Job Description:
Minimum qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, a
similar degree/field, or equivalent practical experience. 15 years
of software engineering experience, including 10 years of
experience in software engineering leadership roles building
developer-facing products or platforms. Experience with
conversational agents and generative AI concepts (e.g., large
language models, fine tuning, distillation, function calling, and
orchestration), development workflows, and use cases. Experience
leading and managing development teams, with experience in project
delivery. Preferred qualifications: PhD in Computer Science,
Machine Learning, Data Mining, Information Systems, or related
disciplines with technical expertise in one or more of the above
mentioned areas or equivalent practical experience. Experience
applying AI solutions and ML-related technologies to solve
real-world AI/ML problems in consumer or enterprise applications.
Experience in the AI/ML open-source community or relevant industry
consortia. Ability to identify emerging trends in AI and developer
tools, and translate them into actionable strategies. About the job
The Applied AI organization within Google Cloud was established to
build a broad and deep application portfolio that leverages the
power of AI to redefine AI-powered conversations. Customers use our
products to build hybrid conversational agents with both
deterministic and generative AI functionality, giving them strict
controls to use generative AI in a way that better meets their
needs. As Senior Director, you will partner closely with their
product counterpart to deliver and bring new products to life from
idea to full life cycle engineering and agent capability in the
Customer Engagement Suite. You will be responsible for the
engineering teams developing the multi-modal agent platform serving
the needs of customer interaction applications in areas like
customer service and sales and in industries such as
telecommunications, healthcare, retail, and financial services. You
will be responsible for defining and developing the technical
infrastructure and product functionality for these applications,
working with multiple Google organizations, customers, and
partners. In this role, you will utilize experience as a leader and
experience managing dynamic engineering teams with a focus on GenAI
applications and delivering results in a timely manner. You will
build partnerships and relationships with a range of partner teams
and be comfortable navigating highly ambiguous situations. Setting
outlook and direction, improving productivity and quality
standards, resolving systemic problems, identifying trends and
implementing change are all keys to success. Google Cloud

problems. The US base salary range for this full-time position is
$349,000-$485,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are
determined by role, level, and location. Within the range,
individual pay is determined by work location and additional
factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant

for a road map for Google Clouds Applied AI conversational agents
portfolio. Balance innovation, user research, and industry trends
to push the boundaries of developer experience. Partner closely
with the broader Applied AI, Cloud AI, and Google DeepMind teams,
and external developer communities to align platform development
with real-world use cases and pain points. Maintain a direct
approach to software design, architecture, and coding standards to
ensure the highest quality and scalability of our developer tool
suite. Represent Google Cloud as an industry leader in generative
AI development, contributing to conferences, publications, and
open-source initiatives. Ensure the team maintains high standards
of technical excellence, scalability, and reliability in all
aspects of software development.
