Based Primary Care Physician Role Overview: The Home-Based Primary
Care (HBPC) Physician and Patient Care Manager (PCM) will work
under general supervision to provide primary care to veteran
beneficiaries. Duties include examination, diagnosis, prevention,
and treatment of various medical conditions, as well as overseeing
non-credentialed healthcare providers. The role requires Board
Certification or Board Eligibility in Family Practice and BLS
certification. Key Responsibilities Serve as Home-Based Primary
Care (HBPC) Physician and Primary Care Manager (PCM) for veterans.
Provide primary care services including examination, diagnosis,
prevention, and treatment across various medical domains (medical,
surgical, gynecological, pediatric, orthopedic). Requires Board
Certification or Board Eligibility in Family Practice. Clinical
Duties: Conduct physical examinations to determine the presence and
extent of diseases, injuries, or conditions. Order and interpret
diagnostic tests (e.g., laboratory tests, x-rays). Diagnose and
prescribe treatment plans, including referrals to specialists or
hospitals. Handle complex cases by referring to higher authorities
for consultative or diagnostic advice. Oversee non-credentialed
healthcare providers, and potentially supervise Nurse Practitioners
(NPs) or Physician Assistants (PAs). Procedures: Reduce simple
fractures, perform emergency deliveries, joint
aspiration/injection. Conduct ECGs and interpret initial results,
interpret basic radiographs. Perform regional anesthesia,
splinting/casting/immobilization of simple fractures, crisis
intervention, and provide basic life support (BLS). Why You Should
