strips - Experience with vents - Familiarity with line insertions
Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in a Neuro
Intensive Care Unit. The unit has a capacity of 20 beds. Ratios are
typically 1:1 to 1:2. Nurses may have charge nurse responsibilities
but generally do not take patients during these times. Nurse aides
are available as safety attendants. The weekend requirement is
every other weekend. Holiday shifts rotate with core staff. Scrub
color is navy, and under shirts must be navy, white, or black.
Scrub jackets are optional but must also be navy. The electronic
medical record system used is Cerner. The unit provides 24/7
respiratory therapy and pharmacy services. Be prepared to float to
other facilities if necessary. Most common diagnoses include CVA,
ICB, neuro surgeries, craniotomies, neuro interventional radiology,
and ventriculostomies. This is a newer, state-of-the-art unit with
a strong emphasis on delivering high-quality neuro care. Shift
starts at 6:45 PM. Report is conducted at the bedside.
Self-scheduling is utilized, allowing for greater flexibility.
Block scheduling is not generally available. There could be
potential for extra shifts and trades with other staff members. The
ability to handle high-stakes changes is essential for success in
