Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Labor and Delivery Discipline: RN Start Date: 10/14/2025 Duration: 16 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute care setting requiring CA RN licensure and expertise in fetal monitoring. Responsibilities Work in a Family Birthing Center covering Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, and antepartum and postpartum patients Level II trauma acute care environment Ratios are 1:2 for L&D, 1:1 for delivery, and 1:4 for Mother/Baby couplets Participate in all aspects of delivery, including high-risk and term/preterm cases 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required First to float among Sacramento area facilities, with possible rare mid-shift floating Care for patients using Cerner EMR Direct patient bedside report at shift start; bedside shift report at 6:45pm Shared responsibility for C-sections with RNs circulating for mom and baby Hospitalist or intensivist in-house with 24/7 RT and pharmacy support Participate in bedside handoff, manage high-risk and routine deliveries, and provide postpartum and antepartum care Expect to rotate holidays with core staff Scrubs are provided by the facility Breastfeeding support available in a designated 'baby friendly' hospital Floor-specific orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor May be required to pass a dysrhythmia exam and sterile technique testing during onboarding Travelers are included in self-scheduling and can request extra shifts or trades On-call assignments may require a 30-minute response time Block scheduling is generally not available Requirements Active CA RN license required at the time of consideration Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certifications required; STABLE preferred Experience performing and interpreting EKG strips required Ability to 'catch the baby' during deliveries is highly preferred Previous experience with Cerner EMR preferred Candidates must provide two professional references: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year First-time travelers will not be considered Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-610598.
