  • A hospital near Sacramento is looking for experienced MedSurg/Tele Trauma nurses for a travel contract.
    • Job Requirements
    • The right candidate will have 2 years of experience
    • hold an active BLS, ACLS, NIH and CA License
      • Schedule Information
      • 12 hr shifts
      • Report at the bedside
      • OT and extra shifts are available
      • Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it
      • Schedules are out 4 weeks
      • Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves "available" for extra shifts and make trades with other staff
      • Block scheduling is generally not available
      • The nursing bundle hourly rounding, board personalized
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Unit: Trauma MedSurg/Tele 5 Central
        • # beds: 32
        • Ratios: 1:4 - Tele, 1:5 - MedSurg
        • EMR: Cerner
        • Charge Nurse: Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief
        • Nurse Aides: PCT 2 days, 1 nights
        • Weekends: EOW
        • Holidays: Rotate in with core staff. Prefers travelers to work all holidays
        • Scrub Color: Navy - under shirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional, must be navy
        • Tele: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
        • Vents: Bipap and Cpap patients possible. RT to manage
        • Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes, Hospitalist or Intensivist
        • IV Team: No
        • RT 24/7: Yes
        • Pharmacy 24/7: Yes
        • Floating: All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen. 1st to float at San Juan to other MedSurg/Tele floors
        • Common diagnosis/Types of patients: Trauma patients, trachs and chest tubes, drains, lifts, geriatric, Avery camera system in all rooms. Average 8-10 trauma at any time mixed with general Med/Tele pop
        • Additional Note: 85th percentile for patient experience. Looking for staff that follow this culture. Strong communication skills required. Manager has an open door policy
        • 12hr Days, EOW, First to Float
          • Additional Details
          • ACLS, BLS, NIHSS;need 2 sup refs (charge accepted) at submittal; 1 w/in 12 mo. & 1 w/in 3 years worked
          • Modules are required to be done before start of assignment. Modules take on average 3-4 hours to complete
          • For Holiday RTO: Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years)
          • Unit managers will make the final call on scheduling
          • Holiday time off will be considered, however not guaranteed
          • Med Sol prescreens, offer off clinical prescreens, manager has 24 hours to rescind the offer, if necessary
          • PRIOR TO ACCEPTANCE, THE DYSRHYTHMIA EXAM (BASIC) THROUGH UNAI IS REQUIRED TO BE SENT ALONG WITH ACCEPTANCE
          • THIS MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 24-48 HRS. PLEASE NOTE IT'S PASS OR FAIL AND THEY GET TWO ATTEMPTS
