  • A hospital near Sacramento is looking for experienced MedSurg/Tele RN for a travel contract on the Surgical Acute unit.
  • The right candidate will have 2 years of experience and hold an active BLS, ACLS, NIH, and CA License.
    • Job Requirements
    • 2 years of experience required.
    • Must hold active BLS, ACLS, NIH, and CA License.
      • Schedule Information
      • 12 hr shifts. Shift starts 645.
      • Report is at the bedside.
      • OT and extra shifts available.
      • Self-scheduling is used, but not finalized until Manager balances it.
      • Schedules are out 4 weeks.
      • Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves "available" for extra shifts and make trades with other staff.
      • Block scheduling is generally not available.
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Unit: 6T Surgical Acute
        • # beds: 30
        • Ratios: 1:4-5. If patients on tele then 1:4.
        • EMR: Cerner
        • Charge Nurse: Yes, generally does not take patients.
        • Nurse Aides: Yes as census and staffing dictate.
        • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
        • Holidays: Rotate in with core staff.
        • Scrub Color: Navy - under shirts must be navy, white, or black.
        • Tele: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
        • Vents: No
        • Floating: All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare.
        • Floor specific orientation: 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor.
        • Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Bariatric surgery, post vascular, total joints, general ortho.
          • Additional Details
          • For Holiday RTO: Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years).
          • Unit managers will make the final call on scheduling.
          • Modules are required to be done before the start of the assignment taking 3-4 hours, which is not billable.
          • Offer off clinical prescreens.
          • Manager has 24 hours to rescind the offer, if necessary.
