  • Job Details
  • This position will float between TICU (Trauma ICU) and SICU (Surgical ICU) depending on census
  • Both sets of unit notes are detailed below
    • Job Requirements
    • ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications required
    • 2 supervisor references needed at submittal (charge nurse reference accepted) - 1 within the past 12 months and 1 within the past 3 years of work experience
    • Completion of modules before the start of the assignment which take on average 3-4 hours - non-billable time
    • Passing the Dysrhythmia Exam (Basic) through INA is mandatory before acceptance within 24-48 hours with two attempts allowed
    • Prefer candidates with trauma experience
    • Ability to read and interpret EKG strips is necessary
    • Willingness to work in different units as needed and be the first to float is required
      • Schedule Information
      • 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45 with bedside report
      • Overtime and extra shifts available
      • Self-scheduling system used, subject to Manager's approval with schedules released 4 weeks in advance
      • Every other weekend work required
      • Rotating holidays with core staff
      • Mid-shift float to another facility is possible and travelers are first to float
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Patient Ratios are 1:1 to 2:1 depending on unit and situation
        • Safety Attendants (sitters) and Charge Nurses providing break relief available
        • Navy scrub color required with specifics on under shirts and jackets
        • RT 24/7
        • Pharmacy 24/7
        • ICU Pharmacy open during day shift
        • Floor specific orientation with preceptor lasting 1-2 days
        • Common diagnosis or types of patients in TICU include all trauma cases, CRRT, rapid infusers, and line insertions
        • Types of patients in SICU generally involve Postop recoveries - primarily vascular, Fempops, VATs, thoracic, open belly surgeries, CRRT, ECMO, and line placements
