**Overview**

Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. It is one of the area's largest and most comprehensive medical centers. Dedicated to the community's well-being our staff and volunteers provide excellence in care for our patients each year. Mercy San Juan Medical Center has received recognition for being a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery along with Certificates of Excellence in Perinatal Care Hip- and Knee- Replacement.

**Responsibilities**

Mercy San Juan's Family Birth Center was recently certified for baby friendly and is the **2** **nd** **hospital in the nation and first on the west coast to have the joint commission perinatal certification** . Our FBC consists of a 12 bed labor unit, 2 OR's and a 14 bed private postpartum unit. We average 160-180 deliveries a month, and have a full team of experienced leaders with a focus on perinatal and neonatal safety.

The incumbent is a professional who provides and supervises care to individuals and families using a holistic approach. The nursing process is used as a structured mechanism for critical thinking and problem solving in providing effective and appropriate care within a safe and confidential environment from admission to discharge. Each RN is responsible for collaborating with members of the healthcare team, providing leadership, personal/professional development, and conducting him/herself professionally.

**Qualifications**

**Minimum:**

+ 1 year of Labor & Delivery RN experience

+ Fetal monitoring experience required

+ Current CA RN licensure, BLS, ACLS & NRP certificate from American Heart Association

+ NCC fetal monitoring certificate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring course completion within 12 months of hire

+ Cesarean Section experience preferred
