Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or related
quantitative fields.
- At least 5 years of work experience using analytics to solve
product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL),
querying databases, or conducting statistical analysis; or 3 years
with a PhD degree.Preferred qualifications:
- 8 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or
business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying
databases, or conducting statistical analysis; or 6 years with a
PhD degree.
- Experience in articulating and translating business questions
and applying statistical techniques to derive insights from
data.About the jobAt Google, data-driven decision-making is
fundamental. Quantitative Analysts across the organization help
shape Google's strategies by analyzing large datasets. Using
statistical methods, you identify opportunities to enhance
efficiency, from improving advertising effectiveness to optimizing
network infrastructure and understanding user behavior. You
collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, Sales, and Marketing
teams to implement findings into practice. The role involves
problem identification and solution development.Our team's mission
is to protect Android users from abusive apps, including malware,
content abuse, impersonation, and behavioral abuse. Success in this
role directly contributes to a safer Android ecosystem.As a Data
Scientist on the App Safety Engineering team, you will work with
stakeholders across product, engineering, and operations to conduct
data research, develop methodologies for production systems, and
support key safety decisions. Your analysis will focus on ecosystem
impact and model effectiveness. You will translate data insights
into actionable recommendations and process improvements, managing
multiple stakeholder requests to maximize impact.Responsibilities
- Work with large, complex datasets; solve challenging analysis
problems using advanced quantitative methods as needed.
- Perform data gathering, requirements specification, processing,
analysis, model development, evaluation, and communicate results
effectively.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and
Operations to define questions, objectives, and metrics; select
appropriate quantitative methods.
- Develop and refine methodologies and frameworks to establish
reliable organizational metrics.
- Understand production systems, advocate for necessary changes,
and develop data-driven solutions to improve efficacy.Google is
